Sr Justina Merkl died 8 May 1930 at the Convent of Our Lady of the Rosary, Izeli
Teresa Merkl was born in Wippenhausen Thalhausen Freising Oberbayern on 9 May 1897. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at the St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf on 17 April 1925 and made her Profession on 29 October 1927. On 14 January 1928 she arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town and was assigned to the Convent in Izeli in 1929, where she died the following year.
1929
Sr Eugenia Glosser died 16 March 1929 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Juliana Glosser was born in Eitensheim bei Ingolstadt on 12 January 1873. She joined the Congregation at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1896 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 1 November 1898. She made her Profession on 18 August 1900 and was assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she worked in the laundry, garden, dairy and fields. She subsequently worked at the Convents in Fort Beaufort and Queenstown, returning to Izeli twice.
Sr Amanda Gately died 14 April 1929 at the Sacred Heart Convent, East London
Rosanna Gately was born in East London, South Africa on 22 July 1860. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Motherhouse in King William’s Town in November 1883 and made her Profession on 25 February 1885. In 1887 she was assigned to the Convent in East London where she taught music. She subsequently taught at the Convents in Potchefstroom, King William’s Town, Graaff Reinet, Fort Beaufort, Cradock and Queenstown, returning once again to the Convent in East London.
Sr Adelgunde Meyer died 29 June 1929 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Anna Meyer was born in Munich, Bavaria on 24 October 1886. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1906 and made her Profession on 30 October 1909. She arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in April 1908 and was assigned to the Convent in Cradock in 1912 where se worked in the house and had charge of the Priest. In 1919 she was assigned to the Mater Infirmorum Convent where she cared for Sr Imelda Ebner. She worked at the Convent in Graaff Reinet for a short while but was obliged to return to the Mater Infirmorum due to failing health.
Sr Dosithea Oefele died 17 August 1929 at the Kensington Sanatorium, Johannesburg
Anna Oefele was born in Doesingen Post Westendorf Bavaria on 20 December 1894. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at the St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1921 and made her Profession on 10 November 1923. She arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 23 May 1922 an was assigned to St Francis Xavier Convent in East London. In 1928 she was sent to the Convent in Ermelo, where she died.
Sr Seraphina Schulte died 13 November 1929 at Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Maria Schulte was born in Selkentrop, Schmallenberg, Westphalen Prussia on 8 October 1869. She entered the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1892 and made her Profession on 24 August 1894. In the same year she was assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she taught needlework, cared for the boarders and orphans. She worked also at the Convents in Keilands, King William’s Town and Cradock.
1928
Sr Melania Treiber died 5 January 1928 at the hospital in Cradock
Katharina Treiber was born in Bischofsmais Amt Regen Bavaria on 15 October 1878. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf and made her Profession on 1 November 1910. She arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 21 April 1909 and was assigned to the Convent in East Lonon in 1912. In 1922 she returned to King William’s Town and a year later she went to Cradock.
Sr Vincentia Dilger died 30 July 1928 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Ermelo
Maria Ursula Dilger was born in Weiler, Scheidegg, Lindau, Bavaria on 25 April 1872. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg and came to the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 1 November 1898. She made her Profession on 18 August 1900. Sr Vincentia taught Kindergarten classes and needlework, first at the Convent in Graaff Reinet and then in East London. She arrived in Ermelo the year before her death.
Sr Thomas Schaflitzl died 30 August 1928 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Kreszentia Schaflitzl was born in Wehringen, Bobingen bei Augsburg, Bavaria on 6 June 1863. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg and made her Profession on 25 June 1891. On 19 September 1889 she arrived at the Mothorhouse in King William’s Town and was assigned to the care of the boarders and the ‘Rosary Children’ as well as teaching. In 1894 she was assigned to the Convent in Potchefstroom and subsequently taught at the Convent schools in Belgravia, Izeli and Graaff Reinet. She also spent three years at the Convent in Grahamstown.
Sr Apollonia Noee died 22 November 1928 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Amaneda Noee was born in Ernstthal, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany on 22 April 1856. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1889 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in 1890. She made her Profession on 16 January 1892. In 1894 she was assigned to the Convent in Graaff Reinet where she taught needlework for twenty years and also took care of the boarders. In 1917, when her health began to fail she was moved to the Mater Infirmorum.

Sr Gertrudis Forthofer died 21 January 1927 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Angela Forthofer was born in Bliesdalheim Herbitzheim Zweibruechen Rheinpfalz Bavaria on 20 January 1866. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in April 1892 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 13 December of that year. She made her Profession on 24 August 1894.
Sr Gemma Mayr died 12 April 1927 at Heilanstalt Gabersee Germany
Maria Mayr was born in Munich, Bavaria on 4 March 1890. She arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 19 Marcy 1913 and made her Profession on 5 October 1913. In 1921 she was sent back to Germany due to a mental disorder and was placed in a Home where she was cared for until her death from TB a few years later.
Sr Hieronyma Hegele died 12 June 1927 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Ursula Hegele was born in Oberfahlheim, Neu Ulm, Bavaria on 28 May 1865. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1890 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 January 1892. In 1894 Sr Hieronyma was assigned to teach at the Convent school in Graaff Reinet. She subsequently taught at the Convent schools in East London, Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Cradock, Fort Beaufort and Queenstown, being Superior a number of times..
Sr Bernard Rinkes died 7 August 1927 at St Thomas Aquinas Convent, Witbank
Moria Rosa Rinkes was born in Ludwigshafen, Baden on 10 May 1880. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1901 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 21 November of the same year. She made her Profession on 15 August 1903. A music teacher, Sr Bernard taught at the Convent schools in Queenstown, Potchefstroom, Fort Beaufort, Belgravia and Witbank.
Sr Bruno Schenz died 9 August 1927 at Maria Hilf Convent, Woodlands, King William's Town
Barbara Schenz was born in Oberwilzingen Post Hayingen, Wurttemberg on 30 November 1885. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1904 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 10 March 1906. She made her Profession on 18 August 1907. She spent the next twenty years at Maria Hilf Convent in Woodlands, taking care of the house and tending the gardens, fields and stables.

Sr Justina Abel died 21 August 1926 at the Frere Hospital, East London
Gertrude Abel was born in Rohrbach Pfaffenhofen Bavaria on 13 December 1874. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1898 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 1 November of the same year. She made her Profession on 18 August 1900. Her work in the Mission was to cultivate the garden, keep the house in order and assist in domestic duties. Her work took her from the Motherhouse to the Convents in Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Queenstown, Izeli and East London.
Sr Chrysostoma Brunner died 14 December 1926 at the Kensington Sanatorium, Johannesburg
Amalie Brunner was born in Unterrehrbach Bavaria on 7 June 1879. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1905 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in 1906. She made her Profession on 25 April 1908. In 1907 she was assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she was responsible for baking and had care of the Infirmary and the lives stock. Her work took her to the Convents in Klerksdorp, Fort Beaufort, King William’s Town and Graaff Reinet.

Sr Monica Bosch died 13 February 1925 at the Convent of Our Lady of the Rosary, Izeli, King William's Town
Libertina Bosch was born in Heinstetten Post Stetten Baden on 13 July 1860. In 1890 he joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at Convent Wettenhausen to join the Sisters at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg who were to travel to South Africa and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 January 1892 and worked for a few years in the kitchen, garden and stable of the Convent in Izeli. She was then assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she continued to work as a Lay Sister until her death.
Sr Agnes Vordermayr died 24 February 1925 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Elizabeth Vordemayr was born in Tettenhausen, Tittmaning, Traunstein, Bavaria on 17 November 1846. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1882 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 14 October in the same year. She made her Profession on 1 March 1884. Following several years at the Motherhouse where she cooked and tended the vegetable garden she was assigned to the Convent in Izeli and later to Maria Hilf Convent in Woodlands.
Sr Michael O'Neil died 15 April 1925 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Mary O’Neil was born in King William’s Town, South Africa on 1 February 1861. She entered the Congregation as Postulant at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Motherhouse, King William’s Town, in August 1880 and made her Profession on 25 January 1882. Sr Michael taught the lower standards at a number of the Convent schools including those in East London, Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, King William’s Town and Fort Beaufort.
Sr Helena Fischer died 30 June 1925 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Theresia Fischer was born in Nattenhausen bei Krumbach Schwaben Bavaria on 2 January 1868. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1892 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in December of the same year. She made her Profession on 24 August 1894 and was assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she did carpentry, masonry and worked in the field. Following an injury, and no longer able to do strenuous work she was sent to the Mater Infrimorum Convent where she tended the bee hives and made lace and did fancy work.
Sr Wilhelmina Mehrle died 19 November 1925 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Bibiana Mehrle was born in Schwangau bei Fuessen Schwaben Bavaria on 20 December 1870. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1890 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 January 1892. A Lay Sister, Sr Wilhelmina worked at the Convents, first at Izeli and then in Fort Beaufort and King William’s Town.
Sr Bonaventura Eidenback died 25 November 1925 at the Hospital in Grahamstown
Alma Margarita Eidenback was born in Buffalo Plains, New York, USA on 9 April 1880. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1898 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 18 August 1900. She began teaching at the Convent school in East London and soon after was assigned to the Convent in Potchefstroom, then Graaff Reinet, Fort Beaufort and the Motherhouse where she taught in the Commercial School of the Convent.

Sr Imelda Ebner died 4 May 1924 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Clotilde Ebner was born in Modishofen near Augsburg, Bavaria on 26 July 1864. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1882 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 15 January 1885. For a number of years she cared for the boarders at the Convent in King William’s Town and in 1889 she was sent on the Foundation of the Convent in Potchefstroom but in 1891 returned to the Motherhouse, ill with reumatism which kept her bedridden for the remaining thirty three years of her life.
Sr Simperta Friedl died 9 May 1924 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, King William's Town
Maria Friedl was born in Feldkirchen Salzburg Oesterreich on 29 December 1883. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1913 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 18 March of the same year. She made her Profession on 5 October 1914. In 1915 she was assigned to the Mater Infirmorum Convent where she worked in the dairy, fields and stables. She continued with this work at Maria Hilf Convent in Woodlands.
Sr Theodosia Lunger died 2 October 1924 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Motherhouse, King William's Town
Anna Lunger was born in Virgl, Bozen, Trient, Tyrol, Austria on 8 September 1880. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1904 and travelled to South Africa, leaving Southampton on 12 November and arriving at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 7 December of that year. She made her Profession on 8 August 1906. She soon began to teach beginning at the Convent school in Izeli, followed by Keilands, East London, Graaff Reinet and Klerksdorp.
Sr Theodosia Lunger died 2 October 1924 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart Motherhouse, King William's Town
Anna Lunger was born in Virgl, Bozen, Trient, Tyrol, Austria on 8 September 1880. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1904 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 7 December of the same year one of the first party of Postulants from Schlehdorf. She made her Profession on 8 August 1906. She taught at the Convent schools in Izeli, Keilands, East London, Graaff Reinet and Klerksdorp.
Sr Alexia Bolton died 8 October 1924 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Annie Bolton was born in Cape Town, South Africa on 24 May 1856. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Motherhouse, King William’s Town in 1882 and made her Profession on 11 June 1884. Trained as a teacher by the Dominican Sisters in Cape Town she was well qualified to embark on the worthy task of teaching. This she was to do for the next 41 years at the Sacred Heart Convent in East London. Here she also instructed children in the Catechism, numerous converts in the Faith and trained boys to serve at the Altar.

Sr Anna Speckle died 25 May 1923 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Elisabeth Speckle was born in Rankweil, Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, Austria on 11 June 1855. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1892 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in 1893. She made her Profession on 9 July 1895. Assigned to the Convent in Izeli in 1894 she had the duty of making church lace, needlework and sacristy. With brief spells in East London and Graaff Reinet she spent most of her religious life in Izeli.
Sr Antonina Dowd died 4 May 1923 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Potchefstroom
Margaret Dowd was born in Thorn Park, East London, SA on 23 April 1855. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Motherhouse, King William’s Town in February 1884 and made her Profession on 12 June 1885. At the Motherhouse she had the care of boarders, teaching catechism and visiting the sick. In 1896 she joined the Zambesi Mission to Rhodesia. In Bulawayo she had charge of the hospital. In 1901 she returned to the Motherhouse and in 1909 she was sent to the Convent in Graaff Reinet. She subsequently worked at the Convents in Cradock, East London, Fort Beaufort and Potchefstroom.
Sr Ludovika Zirn died 23 November 1923 at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf
Magdalena Zirn was born in Bubsheim Spaichingen Wuerttemberg on 10 August 1853. She entered the Convent at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1874 and made her Profession on 21 October 1875. In October 1904 she transferred to St Immaculata Convent in Schlehdorf where she was head cook and managed the household to the end of her life.
Sr Emerentia Kienzerle died 29 November 1923 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Klerksdorp
Rosa Kienzerle was born in Kohlgrub, Munchen, Freising, Bavaria on 26 October 1871. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1890 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 January 1892. In 1899 she was assigned to teach at the Convent in Klerksdorp. After thirteen years she returned to the Motherhouse as Novice Mistress and later as Superior at Maria Hilf in Woodlands and then at the Mater Infirmorum before returning to Klerksdorp.
Sr Laurentia Wimmer died 10 May 1922 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Barbara Wimmer was born in Heldenstein Station Weidenbach Oberbayern Bavaria on 13 December 1870. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1894 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 11 November in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 July 1897. At the Motherhouse and later at the Mater Infirmorum Convent she tended the gardens, vegetables and fields.
Sr St Roch Schroeder died 23 October 1922 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Victoria Schroeder was born in Gottfriedingerschweige bei Dingolfing Niederbayern on 21 July 1883. She entered the Congregation as a Postulant at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1909 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 21 April of the same year. She made her Profession on 1 November 1910. In 1912 she was assigned to Maris Stell Convent in East London and in 1921 to Fort Beaufort. At each Convent she worked in the kitchen and cared for the boarders.
Sr Romana Schwab died 3 November 1922 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Therese Schwab was born in Hoehenberg bei Vilsbiburg Niederbayern Bavaria on 16 February 1867. She joined the Congregation as a Mission Candidate at St Ursula’s Convent, Augsburg in 1896 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town in the same year. She made her Profession on 16 July 1897. In 1898 she was assigned to the Convent in Izeli where she worked in the garden. In 1912, due to ill health she was sent to the Mater Infirmorum, where she remained.
Sr De Sales Dotterweich died 25 December 1922 at the Mater Infirmorum Convent, King William's Town
Maria Dotterweich was born in Frensdorf, Bambarg, Bavaria on 26 January 1885. She entered the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1904 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 10 March 1906. She made her Profession on 18 August 1907. Among other duties Sr De Sales taught needlework at the Convent schools in King William’s Town, Potchefstroom and East London.

Maria Reiter was born in Reinbach, Haag, Bavaria on 26 December 1884. She joined the Congregation as a Candidate at St Immaculata Convent, Schlehdorf in 1905 and arrived at the Motherhouse in King William’s Town on 4 March 1906. She made her Profession on 18 August 1907.
